Every patient extends my professional knowledge and skills, as well as my personal growth as I dig deep to find new perspectives and gentle treatments for chronic conditions and their emotional causations. While there may be similar patterns, no one person presents with the same concerns.

🌼 Rhinovirus and Sinusitis Infection-a personal story.

While recently busy transitioning to this new stage of my life and business, I was focused on juggling several aspects of my life while bringing a time sensitive issue to closure. I carried on and finally met my targets and suddenly stopped, only to find that I was completely exhausted, so exhausted I felt I had zero energy, I mean 0!, and felt like doing absolutely nothing at all.

Emotionally I was worried and had thoughts that “I’m getting old…”  “is this what being old feels like?”… “maybe I’m too old to be doing what I’m doing”… “I don’t know any other women my age doing what I’m doing”, etc. 

It took me a couple of hours to realise that I had developed respiratory symptoms including a mild fever that I had been completely oblivious to and the symptoms had also developed into a sinusitis infection.  

I laughed at myself and realised that I had created a situation where I allowed myself to get so unbalanced and stressed that my immunity was lowered and I was able to ‘pickup’ the rhinovirus virus that was circulating through Perth, and as I had not acted, it had a clear run through my body.

I was able to relate to how my patients feel when they come to see me, as it has been a very long time since I have been sick with an infection and I do not have any chronic (or age related) illnesses. I worked with my thoughts and feelings and took homeopathic medicine and recovered within a couple of days, feeling restored with a new awareness and clarity of my direction. So not a waste of time!

I usually work with my thoughts and feelings on a daily basis to ensure that I experience continued wellbeing and health.

Focusing elsewhere took me to dis-tress and dis-ease. 

So, my recommendation is to not discount stress and tiredness.

A virus takes 12-72 hours to replicate through your body and if you are focused elsewhere with stress you will miss the early signs and symptoms of infection.

Look after your feelings and thoughts and the body will follow.

Sounds simple and worth a try, as it saves time, stress, money & getting old.  🌸

Super K - Influenza Virus A 🦠

With this in mind and the fact that the “Super K”, a variant of the influenza A virus, has circulated through Europe, US and the East Coast and due to hit Perth after Easter, I have included advice from the Winter newsletter 2024.

 The Super K virus, is not necessarily severe but it is easily transmitted and produces:

 🔸sudden high fever

🔸cough

 🔸sore throat 

  🔸chills

 🔸severe muscle/body aches

 🔸fatigue

 🔸persistent headache

 🔸and possible diarrhea or vomiting

 🔸Ear and sinus infections can occur and depending on your immunity you may be at risk of bronchitis and pneumonia.

 
 
 

7 Cold  and  Flu Prevention Tips ✔️

A Carefree Winter with a Strong Immune System

1. Hygiene ✔️

As well as all the protection strategies we are well aware of by now that reduce transmission of viruses (including bathroom visits), I recommend that you remember to wash your hands when you return home from anywhere, before eating and if you share a computer with anyone, sanitise the keyboard before/after use.

2. Move your body ✔️

The Lymphatic System needs movement to Stimulate your Immunity.

 Our lymphatic system protects our immunity by moving antibodies through the body. Lymph relies on movement to flow through the body. So keep up your exercise as it is so tempting to stay indoors when it is cold outside. If it is raining adapt your routine to exercise at home. Exercise is great for prevention of infection but strenuous exercise is not recommended when you already have a virus.

3. Eat Well ✔️

Add a rainbow of vegetables to each meal as they will provide you with a range of antioxidants to boost your immunity.

4. Fresh Air ✔️

Let fresh air into your home every day by opening your windows and sliding doors. Rotate the areas by opening bedroom windows when you are in the kitchen /living area so you can stay warm in the colder months.

5. Sleep well ✔️

Get to bed early and snuggle into warm sheets to allow your body to rest, naturally detox and regenerate. The best time to get to bed is by 9.30-10pm to allow your cortisol levels to drop and allow your body to rest, naturally detox and heal. Lack of sleep and late nights will reduce your immunity.

6. Vitamins and Minerals ✔️

Vitamin C & Magnesium - While they do not have a direct impact on viruses they will help you manage your stress, which has a direct impact on your immunity.

Beta carotene and Vitamin D - have a proven antiviral effect.

Zinc - is a very effective antiviral mineral.

7. Homeopathic Medicine ✔️

A individualised Homeopathic protection program can be developed to enhance your immunity and immediately treat any symptoms that may develop to reduce the severity and duration of any viral infection.

🌿Ferrum Phos - General feeling of being unwell. Symptoms at this stage are not identifiable - better lying down, especially headache warmth; worse motion, night, 4-6am, noise, touch, cold air, suppressed sweat, standing, physical exertion.

Dry cough alternating dry and loose - better sitting up, warmth, indoors, from hot drinks and food, and warm wraps; worse after midnight, cold, cold air and cold drinks or food, being alone.

* A 6c Potency is a low potency and the best strength for common acute illnesses that can be treated at home. Dose hourly for the first 3 doses. If no improvement after 3 doses, you will need to select a better indicated medicine. Dosing is usually 4 x daily with a reduction in the frequency with improvement.
